So Many Faces Gone in Such a Short Time!!

On this quest of ours to find DD the right horse we decided that part of what needed to happen was my herd needed to be cut. It's not something I wanted to do but it was definitely something I needed to do...I simply do not have the time needed for all of these precious animals who need more attention!! So the decision was made and the ad was put out for 5 of the horses to go. Plus an additional 1 will be leaving this weekend. I am not good at saying goodbye to the animals I love so I chose to not be a part of it and let the Hubby do all the wheeling and dealing and saying goodbye. He told me Sunday afternoon that he is glad I did not watch some certain ones leave as he knows how hard it already is for me :(

So these are the faces that no longer grace A&MD Ranch...

She's such a beauty Freckles...

Loud and proud Lacy

My sweet 2 year old Ellie...

Hubby's girl Macy

My angel Mya

Scheduled to leave this weekend is my DD's sweet Ebony...

Please excuse the *poo* :)

  1. They are all so beautiful, especialy Ebony. Couldn't your daughter ride her in barrels or other events? Of is she not trained yet? Is she Morgan? What a beauty!

So sorry about the huge cut of your herd. You're lucky to be able to seel them all this time of the year and in this economy. The horse market is really bad in most parts of the country. So, how many horses do you have now?

  2. Lisa~ Ebony was originally purchased for D to ride in rodeo, but she is very high maintenance. She needs a family that has time to spend with only her everyday, and that is definitely not us LOL! She is a beautiful and very sweet mare. She is not Morgan, she is full QH.. With the sale of Ebony that will put my herd at 8. Of course if when we get D's new horse then 9 LOL! Yes we were lucky but so were the people who bought them! We'll just say that they got a heck of a deal on each of them!

  4. Aww, that would be hard! I didn't realize you had so many babies! *grin*. Know of anyone that wants a big paint stud yearling with no manners? :P

  5. I would really hate to say goodbye to Ebony she is such a beauty. She remembers me of the book and movie "Black Beauty".
I would be hard to say goodbye to all of those sweet babies.

  6. OMG girl. I can't imagine how hard that must be. I sure understand and respect your decision to not be a part of the leaving... I would be crying as I said good bye! We only have 3 horses, and I can't imagine saying good-bye to any of them. It was close over a year ago... we almost said good-bye to our paint horse due to a hoof injury, but I persisted and found help, and he's in good shape and still with us. :-)

  7. I can imagine how hard it must have been to part with so many at once.

What a shame about your little Ellie. I know you had high hopes for her. And Mya too.

Ebony is beautiful, but I know she hasn't suited you guys, much better to free up the space and hopefully she found a home more "up her alley".

Looking forward to seeing what you end up with for DD.

  8. Those are hard choices to make - I admire you so much for being willing to make those sacrifices for DD!

But you see a talent that needs to be nurtured - and you are doing what it takes to get that done. YOU ROCK GIRL! While not putting my own mom down - I wish she could've supported me like that....

  9. Oh man. I'm just gonna straight up say it: I wouldn't be able to do it. Good for you. We are getting rid of one of ours this weekend, and I don't even have a strong bong with her, but I'm still feeling a little nostalgic about it. All the rides my husband rode her on, the cows she worked, etc. Good thing we only have one horse a piece!

How's the horse hunt going? Any new prospects besides the one in TX your seeing tomorrow?

  12. Well . . .I've tried to not get too attached. I bought Socks when he was 5 and he is now almost 25. Well . . . maybe I am attached! hehe - I know it is hard. But they are beautiful, you've done a good job with them. Sorry to see Ebony go. But, she just didn't fit in your program. Yes, "program." We have specifics we look for in our horses and anything other then those specifics just doesn't work. Hang in there. The right horse for DD is out there!

  13. So sorry to hear that you have to get rid of so many horses!! I love them all, and I can't wait to see DD's new horse! I have been out of the loop for so long!! I missed everyone!

  14. Wow, that is a lot of horses to get rid of at once. It is hard to say goodbye. I would have to have closure and say goodbye to My Boy (not that I plan on ever selling him.) Say, how many do you have once those are gone? And how long did you list them for sale before they sold? Sounds like they all found homes pretty quickly- that sounds good for the horse market! :)

  15. Those are some nice looking horses - but they needed jobs.... A content horse is one with a job! Good luck with the search for DD.

  16. That had to be hard, but as PG said, how awesome that you were able to sell them so quickly in this market.

Did you bring the horse back from TX?
