Being Thankful

I had a post all set up for today but in light of some things today I have decided to delay it till tomorrow...You know I as a person am just extremely tender hearted, to come across anything sad will stay with me for days and I will have trouble getting it out of my mind..I don't know why I am this way, I think I just have a real and deep sadness when I have to think of something bad that happened to someone. My Dad passed away 3 1/2 yrs ago and I will never get over it, I will never be done hurting but I am OK with that. I loved him soooo much, he was my rock as a child and throughout the rest of my life till he died. It is not uncommon for me to cry over something that doesn't even involve me if I find it sad... I think this is why I had such a sadness for TW with the death of her dear friend, I couldn't even imagine what that would feel like and my heart just breaks for her and her friend's family.. So The events that happened this morning just really snapped me back into reality of how quick people can be gone...

My Hubby called me about 11:00 am this morning and told me that one of our dearest friends was in a horrible accident...The minute he spoke those words my heart sank in fear that something had happened to GS.. Hubby quickly explained that he was OK, but the wreck was bad. GS was headed to a job in a town about an hour from here and he had his worker and his 2 sons with him. 1 son is really good friends with J, matter of fact he just stayed over 2 nights ago. The other son is friends with DD, they are in the same grade and we often tease her that they will end up married one day as he has always had a bit of a crush on her :)So Hubby was headed to the accident as was my BIL who was actually on the phone with GS when the accident happened.

They had stopped in a town at about the half way point for a restroom break and a soda and off they went again to the job. A few miles out of that town GS encounters a car drifting over the center line (2 lane highway) and she was not correcting so he then proceeded to drive his truck into the ditch, he was driving a Dodge Quad Cab Dually and also had a massive gooseneck flat bed trailer he was hauling. So he enters the ditch with only the driver's tires on the asphalt at this point and was hoping the lady would miss him, but she didn't...She ended up hitting his dually tires and then her car went under the trailer and the trailer came unhitched and flipped but because of the safety chains it did not break free, so the trailer lands upside down on the bed of the truck. GS's employee ran to the other vehicle and she was killed instantly...The entire top of her car had been ripped off and was wrapped around the trailer. This woman was 65 I believe, and apparently was a diabetic who had gone off of her medication and there was people looking for her everywhere but couldn't catch up with her because she was traveling across the state. There was actually a man already following the lady and was on the phone with the police when the accident happened, he had been following her cause she went blasting by him at about 70 mph and was swerving everywhere so he thought she was drunk. Upon testing with the coroner's office they determined that her blood sugars were so off she should have been in a Diabetic coma..

So I was then told that the younger boy did not put his seat belt on when they left the gas station and his dad did not know that. But the reality of this is that if GS hadn't of seen this car doing this (which he says happened in a flash) he would have been hit head on and his son who was in the middle seat would have likely been ejected from the truck...*sighs* Makes me tear up just thinking about it. I told my Hubby that they are only alive by the grace of God, every detail that happened was just so surreal and they walked away without a scratch..So today I have spent my day thanking God for the safety of my friends and praying for the family of the lady who lost her life...

Frisky Foals!!!

Do you think there is a perfect time of day for foals? I do, I notice with my foals that during the day when it's hot they do a lot of sleeping but as soon as that sun starts to set it's like they come alive!!! This is one of my favorite times of the day, I get such joy in watching them run full blast bucking and kicking!!! Today just like a stroke of magic Angel and Stone went from being sleepy little foals to bursting with energy foals!! So today I thought I would share this fun with you!!

I won't post all of the pictures on this post but if you want to see more action shots then just shoot on over to my "Random Happenings" blog and you can see the rest of them!!

This is how it all started...Cuddling to playing!!

Angel blasting around the pasture!!

Stone chasing Angel LOL!!

My beauties...

Man she can buck!! I'm not sure if that's a good thing though...

Running into her buck!!

Hopping that body!!

Oh we got another one!!

Look how wide she has her nostrils open :~)

Finally time to rest *whew*

Yes, yes it is this bad....Part 1

I am currently sitting here feeling as though I have been hit by a mack truck...Ironically this same weekend 2 yrs ago I was having quite a bit of pain too, although this time did not involve jumping of a horse and breaking my back...Today it's my flower beds...Yes you heard me right, my flower beds...Now you ask why in the world would you be hurting from your flower bed?? Well you see I have this never ending flower bed that is in dire need of work. As ashamed as I am to admit we have not done much yard work this Spring, a lot of that due to the incessant rain and the rest due to just being to freaking busy. So today my innocent trip to the store turned into a flower shopping frenzy!!! See 2 years ago before my accident I had planted all kinds of pretty Lilies, Hibiscus, another special plant for Breast Cancer Awareness and just many other pretty flowers. The problem with my flower bed is it literally wraps around 3 sections of my house, and my house is big!!! Now last year I got spoiled, my MIL was so sweet to come to my house while I was gone and pull all of my weeds for me so that my flower bed was ready for planting. I realized today just how much more that meant to me as I was out there pulling weeds *uhh*...Then for Mother's Day last year my DD planted my whole front 2 sections of my flower bed for me!! My DD did a great job!! So as ashamed as I am to share the horrid pictures of my yard and flower bed before, I must so that when I am finished I can show you the after!! I'm not really sure how long this is going to take LOL, I was hoping I would get it all done today..Ha! Funny!! Well I pulled weeds in about 3/4 of the section that goes across my garage, then it got dark and I had to go in which is just as well because my body is now aged far beyond it's years!!

DD after she finished planting all of the flowers last year!!

She did such a good job!!

Yes, yes here it is...My mess!!

A weed eater would be good but ours burned in the fire 1 year ago and we haven't gotten a new one..

Yes those are wagon wheels hidden behind the weeds!!

My special flowering plant from my Granny

If you look close enough you can see the Yucca plant peeking out!!

Ewww WOW that's a mess!!

*Sighs* my work thus far...

See my cut off line LOL!!

Where does it all go??

You know how when your kids are in grade school and they make these life size class crafts...Ever wonder what the teacher might do with those said "crafts"?!?! Well I soon learned yesterday that my daughter's teachers were very smart about this...Instead of having crap pile up every year they offered these things to the kids through a class room auction!! WHAT?? Seriously?!?! I don't want those gigantic things either LOL!! Now don't get me wrong I ALWAYS keep J's and DD's craft or art projects...But a life size class project, man those teachers are witty!! So yesterday was DD's last day of school and she says excitedly "guess what Mama?!?! We had an auction today for things in our class room and me and Tay (her bestie) we won our class Rain Forest"!!! And then " I have the tree trunks and leaves and Tay has the vines and flowers, so when she comes over tomorrow we are going to make my room into a Rain Forest"!! Yay me...NOT LOL!!! So sure enough the girl's went skating for their last time of the school year tonight and then they came right home and got to work on their rain forest....So it is now complete....DD no longer has a horsey room she has a rain forest LOL!!

DD and Tay sitting in the Jungle!!

OHHH, there is the Rain Forest tree!! (luckily they only put up one, they have more but they ran out of tape, LOL)

Again the Jungle :~) They actually did a pretty good job!!

Only 1 Week till Rodeo Time!! Whoo-Hoo

I have previously uploaded a video of DD doing barrel's at a winter rodeo circuit close to our town... As much fun as we had watching her ride in this circuit I'm so glad that we are now entering Spring/Summer Rodeo!!!! Whoo-Hoo!!! I LOVE watching the youth rodeo's, it is so great to see these kids grow with every rodeo...Now you have met Pete he is a ranch horse that DD has been using since her horse was not ready due to having a foal 2 years in a row (remember we did not breed her she came to us in foal, I mean we do breed but I wouldn't breed my daughter's riding horse LOL)!! So Ebony DD's horse has been getting a lot of tuning up, we sent her to a friend of ours who has spent almost 30 days on her. He called earlier this week to inform us that Ebony is doing great!!! At first he had decided that he did not want DD to rodeo with her this year, he just wanted her putting lots of miles on her then maybe she could introduce her to the rodeo circuit...However when he called earlier this week he has stated that he has had a change of heart and mind, he has now decided that Ebony has far exceeded what he expected of her and they will work her on the patterns this next week!! WHOO-HOO!!! She will not have her back in time for the first rodeo but that's perfectly fine with me!! Pete does great for DD on the barrel's and he used to do good for her on poles but something has changed in his brain because the whole winter circuit he didn't do real great with the pole pattern. So the plan for now is when we have Ebony IF she is doing well in the speed events DD will use her definitely for poles, and flags, but she will ride Pete for barrels (unless Ebony just does better) and she will also ride Pete in the goat tying and eventually breakaway roping...That is her next task to master, she really loves roping so she wants to give it a shot and Pete is such a cowy horse he would do GREAT in that event!!!

I want to share this video with you so you can see the difference when he is running poles, if you go here you can see the difference is night and day between the 2 events...

Is that a Pack Mule I See?!?! NO...Wait that's Lil Cowboy!!

Today we had the delivery of our pig feed! Which is really a great thing because we were in dire need of it, having already borrowed some from a friend. A group of us have a special feed made at a COOP in a town nearby, so my BIL today was kind enough to go get it for us! Tonight J, DD, and I were gone to DD's last "official" gymnastics and dance lessons before recital. So when we got home we were greeted with my Hubby, BIL, and LIL Cowboy unloading all 2,500 lbs of feed...WOW talk about pigs eating like pigs LOL!!! Yes I made myself laugh :)

When the kids and I pulled into the drive we noticed that the boys were over unloading all of that feed into the grain bin. So I go traipsing over to say hi and see how it's going, and then I see it...My little nephew "LIL Cowboy" who weighs all of maybe 50 lbs carrying these 50 lb bags on his back to the grain bin...I can't express how amazed I was to see this little guy doing work with the big boys!! I mean he always loves to give a helping hand, but to carry this weight was a lot, but he didn't act like it bothered him a bit!! Now I say that is the truest of "Cowboy Up"!! I was so proud of him I said you know what pack mule (that's what the big boys were calling him) I think I should take your picture! He says "well sure, go ahead and do it I don't mind" LOL!!! I just love him he is so cute!!! I said "well you can bet your hinney that's what I'm gonna do"!!

Here's our little Pack Mule!!

I'm pretty sure the bag is bigger than him!! Giving me a peek for the picture :)

DD making faces as she observes...No working in flip flops LOL!!

Loading the little mule LOL!!

And away he goes...

He's a pretty strong boy!!

Oh and J was helping too!!
